The world’s most populous metropolitan area, Tokyo is the capital city of Japan and is home to more than 20 million people. The contribution that Tokyo has made towards global economic and technological development has been magnanimous. It is a truly global city – well managed, fast-paced, high-tech, extremely disciplined and has even been described by experts as a global economic command centre along with New York City and London. The traveller has an absolute plethora of activities and attractions to indulge themselves in during their visit to Tokyo. From historic sites and places of religious worship to totally high-tech modern day marvels, Tokyo will satisfy everyone. The city also features plenty of shopping and entertainment districts of which the Ginza is an important one. The Ginza District is the most popular high-class shopping, entertainment and dining district of Tokyo with hundreds of boutiques, department stores, restaurants, pubs, cafes, night clubs, art galleries and much more. The Ginza is frequented by Tokyo’s elite and almost all members of the city’s rich and the famous fraternity could be regularly seen here. The Ginza features several interesting spots. This includes the Ginza Wako clock tower which is also the symbol of the Ginza District and the Sony Building featuring the latest developments in the Sony product line including televisions, mobile phones and computers. The Kabukiza Theatre located at the Ginza presents shows of the ancient art of Kabuki throughout the year. The Ginza also features many department stores such as the Mitsukoshi, Matsuya, Matsuzakaya, Printemps, Hankyu and Seibu offering a myriad of products ranging from high-class branded garments to electronic items. Located adjacent to the Tokyo Station and surrounded by some of Tokyo’s most popular shopping areas the Shangri-La Hotel Tokyo is the latest property offering the signature comforts of the Shangri-La brand. The Tokyo luxury hotel promises its guests elegant living standards, total relaxation and a level of service that can seldom be matched by any other Tokyo hotel.
The wonderful online world is constantly modifying and changing as consumers learn to demand more; as companies try newer, more innovative approaches, the world of e-commerce and web shopping carts is forever changing and constantly evolving for the better. Japan is just starting to embrace online shopping and other money-making strategies online. This is the best time to emerge as the online shopping world is getting stronger and better every day. As of the present, there are over 60% Japanese who have internet access and the numbers are expected to increase over the next few years.
As designers and programmers integrate newer and more secure web applications, with the main objective of consumer security, ease of payment processing and of course confidentiality, the e-commerce software of the present is light years way ahead of those that existed just a few years ago. A few years back, online shopping in Japan was almost non-existent. But today, Japan is slowly but surely entering the online business. And with such an advance country, why not? As time continues, expect to see wonderful things from these Japanese shopping carts.
The importance of online business is offering a high level of online security in attracting customers to make a purchase from their websites. Identity theft is as real as the next crime, and quite frequently, hackers steal confidential information online and later manipulate it for fraudulent purposes. This is one of the disadvantages of online shopping, by purchasing a product; you put your privacy at risk. The mere fact that you are encoding credit card information that is confidential should make you wary. But web developers and programmers are working with security firms online to improve their batch processing systems and create the most secure system of transferring financial information for credit card processing. Companies like MasterCard and Visa have issued newer security requirements; they will reject payments from shopping carts that do not meet their security standards.
Also, it is very important to make the website multilingual to cater to your Japanese and global market. Always prioritize hiring a professional web translator for a better result. Web translation does not only involve word per word translation; the translation should make sense and should be understood by the reader. Do not narrow your shopping website to one race and one race only. The whole idea of online shopping is going global at a fast pace now. The internet is the key that would open the world; Japanese merchants should take advantage of that and go global with their business.
In the past, merchants had to accept checks and money orders and use online payment systems. Today, online shopping carts offer privacy and convenience to their customers. Shopping carts have revolutionized online shopping and Japan is taking advantage of this. Great things are expected for online shopping; because the more secure that people feel using them, the better money-making potential it is for the business. Surely, without the online shopping software of today, internet would be a lonely and much less profitable world.

This fast-paced capital has a lot to offer in terms of unique shopping experiences. In this quirky city of strangeness and gadgets it is possible to buy anything. ‘Lalaport’ is the name of a chain of shopping malls in and around Tokyo. There is an absolutely massive one in Chiba, however, its slightly more manageable cousin in Toyosu is easier to get to and still gives you the best Tokyo shopping experience. If, like me, you love shopping then you will find heaven at Lalaport Toyosu. It is a bright, modern shopping mall with 190 beautiful stores, cafes and restaurants set in a pleasant waterfront location in the Odaiba area. The layout is designed to be like boats in a harbour with the shopping zones having names like Central Port, four Ships and Islands in the middle. It’s difficult to see on the ground but it all adds to the atmosphere. It has to be admitted that most of the shops are for ladies fashions but also of note are a lovely craft shop, Mano Creare, the Francfrancfranc furniture and homewares shop on the second floor and Okichihiroba for more traditional Japanese lifestyle goods. Of course, there are many many more and you will find lots of little gems in amongst the big ‘departos’ like Tokyu Hands, Muji and Uniqlo. The only thing missing is a ToysRUs which is a shame but, on the top floor, there is a huge role-playing theme park called Kidzania. To be honest, that looked like it was only for the very brave as it was packed to the rafters with screaming children and harassed-looking adults. The mall also houses several useful and intriguing services such as the ABC Cooking Studio which holds cookery courses for women and children, the Tokyo Jaja web broadcasting studio, a dental clinic and an aromatherapy salon. Throughout the mall, there are benches and places to stop and have a sit down and on the upper floors there are cafes, such as Saint Marc Choco Cro, and many informal restaurants and bars. There are more restaurants, however, on the ground floor facing out onto the waterfront. Many of them have outside seating which is very relaxing when the weather is good. We had a delicious western-style lunch at Oceans Burger Inn which, being handily close to the dog walking area, has a separate menu for canines! Even if you just want a rest or a drink, you’ll still be able to find a step or concrete block to sit on while you watch the futuristic-looking waterbus arrive and depart at the Toyosu pier (there is grass around but most of it seems to be for the dogs so you might not want to risk it!). Getting there To get to Lalaport Toyosu you can:- Take the Yurikamome monorail line to Toyosu. Lalaport is visible from the train and only a short walk from the station Take the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line to Toyosu Station. Again, just a short walk. Take the waterbus to LaLaport Toyosu pier from Asakusa or Odaiba |
